President Droupadi Murmu is set to fly into Uttarakhand on November 2 and will stay until November 4. During her three‑day visit she will host a series of public events that celebrate the state’s 25‑year milestone – its silver jubilee.
On November 2 the president will greet students at the University of Patanjali in Haridwar. The campus will hold its second convocation ceremony, and the president will give a speech to honor graduates and the university’s growth.
The next day, November 3, the president will travel to Dehradun to speak to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. She will mark the state’s silver jubilee and outline future directions. In the afternoon she will also attend a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Nainital, which is celebrating 125 years of service.
On the final day, November 4, the president will visit the revered Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Kainchi. After her pilgrimage, she will head to Nainital again to chair the 20th convocation of Kumaun University, welcoming new graduates.
The visit ties in with a special two‑day session the Uttarakhand Assembly will hold later this week, announced by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The CM said the state’s 25‑th anniversary will be highlighted by discussions on progress and challenges. “Our silver jubilee is a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come together,” Dhami said. He also stressed the government’s focus on jobs and education, noting that the last four years have delivered more than 25,000 jobs for youth and students.
Uttarakhand became India’s 27th state on November 9, 2000, after separating from northern Uttar Pradesh. Originally called Uttaranchal, it was renamed Uttarakhand in 2007. The state’s formation followed decades of protests by hill communities who felt overlooked by the Lucknow government. Their demand for a separate state helped preserve the region’s unique culture and address development needs in the mountainous terrain.
President Murmu’s tour showcases the government’s commitment to the people of Uttarakhand. From university convocations to assembly debates, her visit will strengthen ties between the capital and the picturesque hill state, while highlighting the progress made over the past 25 years.
