In Wayanad, senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is putting the community’s needs front and center. The Wayanad Lok Sabha MP says her work focuses on everyday comforts and on making welfare projects run smoothly.
On Saturday she posted on X that she had inaugurated a new drinking‑water system in Mylukunnu, a project funded by her brother, Rahul Gandhi. “It was a privilege to begin this project and to give clean water to the people of Mylukunnu and to these lovely ladies,” she wrote.
The water supply set‑up tackles a long‑standing demand in the village. During her last visit to the constituency, which wrapped up last month, Priyanka met residents, checked the progress with local officials, and talked about keeping the system running for years to come.
She added that she discussed maintenance plans with departmental officers and followed up in a DISHA meeting. The review team tied up the project with clear “handholding” steps to guide the community after handover, ensuring local authorities stay involved.
This latest field trip is part of her broader strategy to strengthen grassroots delivery. Priyanka’s approach blends direct contact with close oversight of project execution, a model she says is vital for responsive, people‑centred development.
A brief reminder: Rahul Gandhi represented Wayanad from 2019‑2024 and contested the May 2024 general elections again. After he won, the Congress party shifted him to Rae Bareli, leading him to resign from Wayanad. In the November by‑election, Priyanka Gandhi won a decisive victory for the party.
