Probe against Cong MLA Rahul Mamkootathil reaches dead end as ‘victims’ not keen to pursue case

In a major twist, the investigation against Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil from Kerala has stalled completely. All the key survivors who accused him of sexual misconduct have now pulled out, leaving the case in limbo. This development has raised eyebrows in Thiruvananthapuram, where the probe started gaining steam just weeks ago.
Two women who bravely came forward with public allegations against the MLA for sexual misconduct have told investigators they no longer want to give statements. Even the woman who claimed she faced a forced abortion has refused to move ahead with her complaint. Without their cooperation, the entire sexual misconduct investigation against Rahul Mamkootathil has hit a dead end.
Remember, the First Information Report (FIR) kicked off based on tips from third parties, not direct complaints. Probe teams even dug up documents from a private hospital in Bengaluru, which allegedly tied the MLA to arranging an abortion for one of the women. Officials had planned a trip to Bengaluru to grab more records and record the victim’s testimony in person. They hinted that her statement could open the door to a fresh case against the Congress MLA. But now, it seems she’s stepped back too, just like the others.
Without victim statements, the Crime Branch can’t build a stronger case or push for serious charges. This leaves the sexual misconduct allegations against Rahul Mamkootathil hanging by a thread, frustrating those hoping for justice.
Meanwhile, politics is heating up in Palakkad. The local Congress unit, the Palakkad District Congress Committee (DCC), is buzzing with talks about bringing the MLA back to his constituency. Leaders there feel the political winds have shifted, and Rahul Mamkootathil’s support has surged, especially on social media. The DCC president came out strong, saying party workers will stand by the MLA if the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) gives the green light. He added that they can handle any protests that pop up.
The MLA has been running party affairs from his home in Adoor amid the ongoing sexual misconduct allegations in Kerala politics. The DCC has now pressed the KPCC for a quick final decision on his future.
All eyes turn to V. D. Satheesan, the Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly. He’s been vocal against the first-time MLA, taking a firm stand from the start. As the Congress party navigates this messy situation, many wonder what comes next for Rahul Mamkootathil and the broader probe into these serious claims. Stay tuned for updates on this developing Kerala Congress controversy.
