Probe into Sabarimala gold heist will widen, says Union Minister Suresh Gopi

In Kollam, Union Minister and BJP MP Suresh Gopi clarified that the probe into the Sabarimala gold‑smuggling allegation is still a police investigation overseen directly by the court. He added that central agencies such as the CBI, NIA and the Enforcement Directorate will probably take over once it becomes necessary. “no one should wring their hands and cry foul,” he warned, implying the inquiry is bound to widen.

Speaking at the BJP‑led NDA’s Kollam Corporation candidates’ meet and during the launch of their development charter, Gopi fired a trenchant rebuke at the state government. He accused it of repeatedly politicising investigations. He also referenced the case lodged against him for allegedly pushing a person aside, insisting that he is fully cooperating with the legal process.

“Kerala has a society that twists incidents and builds narratives out of nothing,” he said, without naming anyone specifically.

When the ED sent a notice to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the Masala Bond dispute, the minister clarified that the notice did not require the CM to appear in person; it simply asked for a reply. He stressed that whether it involves the KIIFB or any other entity, accurate accounting is mandatory. “You may mislead the public, but you cannot mislead the system,” he added, warning that financial scrutiny cannot be brushed aside with political spin.

Gopi also called the upcoming elections in the Nemom constituency a “clean victory” for the BJP. “The people of Nemom will elect the BJP again. Certain ministers are already nervous and shaken by that prospect,” he said, highlighting the party’s growing strength in the capital region.

The actor‑turned‑politician, who has become one of the BJP’s most vocal figures in Kerala, seized the occasion to accuse the ruling front of fearing transparent investigations.

The NDA’s event marked the formal unveiling of its civic‑election agenda for Kollam, with leaders pledging that corruption‑free governance and enhanced civic services will lie at the heart of their campaign.
