Kabul, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) – A serious road collision on the Herat‑Kandahar highway left ten people dead and more than a dozen injured, the provincial police office said. The crash happened in the early morning when a car slammed into an oncoming vehicle, wiping out several commuters and slicing dozens of others, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Earlier, on Nov 17, a separate accident in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province claimed two lives and hurt eight people, as provincial police spokesman Sayed Tayeb Hamad reported. The mishap occurred when a vehicle carrying female clinic staff hit a car coming from the opposite direction. A medical doctor and a child died on the spot, while six female employees, a child, and the driver sustained injuries.
This was the second fatal incident in the region in the last three days. The previous one, on Nov 16 in Laghman province, involved a passenger vehicle that veered off the Kabul‑to‑eastern provincial highway and burst into flames, killing six people instantly and injuring three others who are now receiving treatment locally. Reckless driving was cited as the main cause, amid a pattern of deadly traffic collisions in Afghanistan caused by poor road conditions, overloaded vehicles, unsafe overtaking, and speeding.
On Nov 14, Zabihullah Jawhar, the provincial police spokesman for Zabul province in the south, said that a crash on the Kabul‑Kandahar highway had killed one person and injured two others. The incident, which took place on Nov 13, involved a car colliding head‑on with another vehicle. The victim died at the scene and the two injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
