Bihar Assembly polls 2025: Political heat rises as top leaders of NDA, INDIA Bloc hit campaign trail

As Bihar’s assembly elections heat up, political parties are ramping up their efforts across the state. The NDA and the Grand Alliance, also known as Mahagathbandhan, are in full swing with campaigns, rallies, and strategy talks.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah kicks off a two-day visit to Bihar on Friday. He’ll speak at a BJP workers’ convention in Bettiah, West Champaran district, and then hold an election strategy meeting with state leaders in Patna. On Saturday, Shah heads to Sarairanjan in Samastipur and Forbesganj in Araria for more workers’ gatherings to boost BJP’s ground game.

The BJP already wrapped up a major meeting in Patna with core committees from every district. They’re finalizing candidate lists for the Bihar assembly polls. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, now in charge of the Bihar elections, brings his winning touch from past campaigns in Bihar and West Bengal.

In a big push for women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually release the first Rs 7,500 crore installment under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on Friday. This means Rs 10,000 going straight into the bank accounts of 7.5 million Jivika self-help group women in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joins the event to highlight the scheme’s impact.

Nitish Kumar keeps the momentum going with his packed district tours. Every day, he inaugurates or lays foundation stones for development projects worth thousands of crores. His ongoing ‘Pragati Yatra’ shows JD(U) is ready for the tough fight ahead in the Bihar elections.

Over in the opposition camp, the Congress held a key working committee meeting in Patna on Wednesday. They focused on reaching out to Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) voters and launched a statewide signature drive against alleged voter fraud. This builds on Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ to rally support.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joins the action on Friday with a Mahila Samvad event at Sadakat Ashram in Patna, right after the Congress meeting spot. Later, she’ll fire up the crowd at an election rally in Motihari, the headquarters of East Champaran district.

With leaders crisscrossing Bihar for rallies, welfare announcements, and behind-the-scenes planning, the state buzzes with election energy. Expect a nail-biting contest in the weeks to come as parties vie for power in the Bihar assembly elections.
