‘Rahul Gandhi not following security protocol’: CRPF’s letter to Kharge, flags ‘uninformed’ foreign tours

CRPF Flags Rahul Gandhi’s Security Breaches in Strong Letter to Congress Chief

New Delhi: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has fired off a serious letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, pointing fingers at Rahul Gandhi for repeatedly ignoring his VVIP security protocols. Written by CRPF’s VVIP Security chief Sunil June on September 10, the note highlights how the Leader of Opposition and Rae Bareli MP isn’t taking his safety seriously, despite round-the-clock protection.

This comes right after a tense security lapse during Rahul Gandhi’s visit to his Lok Sabha constituency in Rae Bareli on Wednesday. As the Congress leader traveled through, BJP workers blocked the highway and shouted slogans like "Rahul Gandhi, go back!" The standoff left his convoy stuck for about 15 minutes, with police clashing verbally with protesters before clearing the way. It was a chaotic scene that exposed real gaps in Rahul Gandhi’s security cover.

But the issues go deeper than this one incident. The CRPF letter slams Rahul Gandhi for his unplanned foreign trips, which catch his security team off guard. "In the last 9 months, Rahul violated security protocol during 6 foreign tours. All these 6 trips happened without any prior notice to the security agency, causing major headaches for us," the letter states.

As a VVIP with top-tier Z+ security—complete with Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) details—Rahul Gandhi must inform his team at least 15 days before heading abroad. Yet, he’s skipped this step multiple times, leaving his protectors scrambling.

Take his recent Malaysia visit, for example. BJP leaders called it a "holiday trip" during crucial Vice Presidential polls, and photos showed him strolling around without visible security. Such lapses have sparked widespread debate on Rahul Gandhi’s security protocol violations and the challenges faced by CRPF in protecting high-profile politicians like him.

This letter underscores growing concerns over VVIP security breaches in Indian politics, especially for leaders like Rahul Gandhi who travel frequently without coordination. As the row heats up, all eyes are on how Congress responds to these CRPF allegations.
