Rahul Gandhi urges PM Modi to announce relief package for flood-hit states

Amid severe floods sweeping across northern India, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is urging the central government to step in quickly. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a Special Relief Package for the most affected states, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Sharing his message on X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi highlighted the urgent need for government action. “Modi Ji, the floods in Punjab have caused massive destruction. The situation in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal, and Uttarakhand is also very serious,” he wrote.

He emphasized that in these tough times, the central government must act fast to help thousands of families who are struggling to save their homes and lives. He urged the government to announce a special relief package immediately and speed up rescue operations, especially for farmers and vulnerable communities.

Rahul Gandhi also shared a video message, appealing directly to the Prime Minister. “It’s heartbreaking to see families fighting to save their loved ones. Modi Ji, it’s the government’s responsibility to protect people’s lives. Please take action and provide the help needed as soon as possible,” he said.

The situation on the ground remains dire. Heavy rains and cloudbursts have caused flash floods across several northern states, leading to tragic loss of life and widespread damage.

In Punjab, at least 29 people have died, and thousands have been displaced. Many villages are submerged underwater, and rescue teams are working around the clock to save stranded residents. Punjab is witnessing what officials are calling its worst flood in recent history.

In Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, flash floods and landslides have caused deaths and missing persons. Infrastructure like roads and power lines have been damaged extensively. Himachal Pradesh is also struggling with collapsed roads, broken power lines, and serious damage to property.

As the crisis continues, the focus remains on rescue, relief efforts, and providing help to those in need. The government is being called upon to act swiftly to manage this natural disaster and support affected communities.
