Jaipur, Nov 27 (LatestNewsX) – Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that Rajasthan is accelerating its progress in tourism, attracting investment, and building industrial capacity.
He highlighted how the government’s investor‑friendly stance and a streamlined single‑window clearance procedure have made it easier for projects in the tourism sector to move forward. Sharma encouraged potential investors to look for new possibilities within the state, guaranteeing robust government backing throughout.
The remarks were delivered during a pre‑summit organized by the Tourism Department as part of the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas celebrations, held at a private hotel earlier this week. Sharma underscored that the gathering signals a shared pledge to elevate Rajasthan’s presence on the world tourism map, while also deepening the emotional bond between diaspora Rajasthani communities and their homeland. The event, he added, presents them with avenues to contribute to the state’s development journey.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister said the government will soon roll out a fresh tourism policy aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure. The new framework will tackle visitor amenities, marketing, festivals, digital and AI tools, skill building, youth employment and investment incentives. A dedicated implementation unit will be set up to keep the policy on track.
Shrma pointed out that the tourism and hospitality sector has been granted industry status, reflecting Rajasthan’s commitment to its growth. He noted that the state’s wealth of historic forts, palaces, havelis, the Thar Desert, wildlife sanctuaries, religious temples, and lakes makes it a distinctive tourism destination.
Tourism numbers are rising: by August, Rajasthan had welcomed more than 150 million domestic tourists and 1.2 million foreign visitors.
At the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, Sharma reported that the state signed Memorandums of Understanding worth ₹35 lakh crore, and the groundwork for projects valued at ₹7 lakh crore has already been laid. Of those agreements, 1,702 were in the tourism arena, slated to bring in ₹1,44,625 crore of investment and create over two hundred thousand direct jobs.
He also mentioned that 277 projects had reached the groundbreaking stage, involving roughly ₹10,000 crore and already generating more than 16,000 direct employment opportunities. Sharma emphasized that the government is championing religious tourism in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s heritage‑centric development vision.
Under central initiatives such as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and PRASAD 2.0, key pilgrim sites—Khatushyamji, Karni Mata Temple, and Malaseri Dungri—are seeing active development. Additional projects like the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit, Braj Chaurasi Parikrama, and Krishna Gaman Path are also progressing swiftly.
The state seeks to broaden its tourism repertoire, expanding rural, wellness, adventure, eco‑tourism, and tribal experiences, along with cultural, craft‑cuisine, wedding, medical, and film‑tourism opportunities.
In a concerted effort to protect heritage, 662 historic havelis across Jhunjhunu, Sikar, and Churu are being restored, a move expected to significantly boost tourism in the Shekhawati region.
Shrma further revealed that the Rajasthan Film Tourism Promotion Policy will support film production with subsidies up to ₹2 crore, and that fees for shooting in government properties and public venues have been reduced. A new policy to promote film tourism is also set to launch.
The state has established the Rajasthan Tourism Infrastructure and Capacity Building Fund totalling ₹5 000 crore, earmarked for developing cultural heritage sites and eco‑friendly tourism ventures.
Under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Program, 20,000 young people and folk artists will receive training in guiding, hospitality, and traditional arts. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, among other officials, accompanied Sharma at the event.
