Rajasthan got a surprise dose of rain on Tuesday, just after the monsoon pulled back. Districts like Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, Dausa, Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Dholpur, and Nagaur saw heavy downpours that caught many off guard.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) points to a strong low-pressure system hanging over the Kutch region and a trough line stirring things up in northwestern Rajasthan as the culprits. This mix brought significant rainfall across these areas.
In Jaipur, the capital, the afternoon skies opened up with intense showers in spots like Gopalpura, Sanganer, Jagatpura, Tonk Road, and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg. The heavy rain sparked long traffic jams and waterlogging— the service lane in Kamala Nehru Nagar on Ajmer Road turned into a full-on flood zone. But hey, it chased away the sticky humidity and cooled things down, giving residents a welcome break.
Alwar faced its own drama with a 20-minute burst of rain that flooded several roads. Over in Dausa, towns like Sikrai and Mahuwa got hammered by showers, while Jaisalmer’s Ramdevra, Pokhran, and Nachana saw plenty of water too. Rainfall ranged from light drizzles to sudden cloudbursts in isolated spots.
IMD officials say light to moderate rain, plus some thundershowers, could stick around for the next three to four days. They’re watching closely: A new low-pressure area might form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, and a fresh western disturbance could kick in from October 5 to 8. That spells widespread rain across Rajasthan from October 6 to 8, which might lead to more waterlogging and headaches in low-lying areas.
Local authorities are telling people to stay alert and heed weather advisories, especially if you’re in flood-prone districts. Keep an eye on Rajasthan weather updates to stay safe.
