Rajasthan High Court receives bomb threat; premises evacuated

Jaipur: A bomb alert at the Rajasthan High Court on Friday sparked alarm, leading officials to evacuate the building and beef up security.

Right after the warning, police and security crews moved swiftly, putting the site on heightened alert. Teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), together with a canine unit, combed through courtrooms, parking lots and the surrounding area.

So far nothing suspicious has turned up, but investigators say they’re still looking.

Everyone who entered the courthouse was checked in detail, and vehicles were subjected to strict security scans.

More police officers were stationed around the complex. The Court administration urged staff and visitors to stay calm and follow the security procedures.

Because of the seriousness, all judges, court personnel, lawyers and patrons inside the building were escorted out safely. Authorities said that no risks would be accepted and that access to the campus would remain closed until the situation is fully under control.

It’s not the first time the Rajasthan High Court has faced such a threat. On October 31, a similar email warned of a blast, prompting another evacuation and thorough search that yielded no dangerous objects.

Just a day earlier, on Thursday, a comparable bomb threat hit the Ajmer District Court and the Passport Office via email. The message—sent to the Registrar’s official email—read: “Four RDX IEDs have been planted at Ajmer Kudankulam Power Plant, Registry Office, and the Dargah Sharif area of Garib Nawaz. The device will detonate as soon as the English message is read.”

After the email landed, police and security teams went on high alert. Metal detectors and dog squads were deployed, and a large‑scale sweep was carried out at both sites. Employees and visitors were evacuated as a precaution, and devotees at the Dargah were temporarily barred during the inspection.

Ajmer Superintendent of Police Deepak Sharma confirmed the threat and the steps taken afterward. He said a detailed search hit every corner of the registry premises and the Dargah complex, covering rooms, offices, parking areas, and other sensitive spots.

The operation lasted about an hour at the registry office and nearly two hours at the Dargah, with no suspicious material or explosive device found.

The repeated nature of these threats has alarmed law‑enforcement and judicial authorities. Police cybercrime units are tracing the origin of the latest email threat, and officials emphasize that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness and that strict action will follow once the perpetrators are identified.
