Police in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, together with the Anti‑Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and local Pilani police, seized 365.7 kg of stolen silver worth about Rs 6.4 crore and arrested three suspects on Friday.
The silver, thought to have been taken from Chennai, was found hidden inside a house on Rajgarh Road in Pilani. Acting under orders from Superintendent of Police Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay, the AGTF team, led by SHO Ranjeet Singh Sevda, carried out a secret raid. The operation was carried out with support from Assistant Superintendent Devendra Singh Rajawat and Circle Officer Vikas Dhindhwal.
The three men arrested are Vikas Jangid (33), Nikhil Jangid (24) from Keharpura Khurd in Jhunjhunu, and Rajbir Jangid (31) from Badi Thirpali in Churu. They are now under preventive charges for disturbing public peace.
Police received intel from Chennai officers that tracked the suspects’ movements. Using CCTV footage from Jaipur to Pilani and technical surveillance, the AGTF located the culprits’ hideout. During the raid, officers collected a cache of silver items—utensils, bricks, and decorative pieces—buried in the house.
The Jhunjhunu police await a team from Chennai to take custody of the silver. Once the silver is formally handed over, further legal proceedings will begin.
