Rajasthan: ‘Vote chor gaddi chhod’ campaign ends, Congress holds flag hosting event

In Jaipur, the Rajasthan Congress set up a flag‑hoisting ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the finish of its “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” sign‑up drive, which aimed to fight vote theft. The event also hosted a training session for Election Commission staff and party workers on the Systematic Identification and Removal (SIR) campaign, a tool designed to stop fraud at polling booths.
The gathering drew big names: State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, opposition leader Tika Ram Jully, AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot, former state president CP Joshi, and other Congress MPs and MLAs. Dotasra blasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly stealing votes nationwide and warned that the BJP might use the SIR process to deny voting rights to poor, Dalit, and minority voters—especially in Bihar.
He also announced that the party has placed Booth Level Executives at every one of Rajasthan’s 52,439 polling stations. Congress workers have been told to canvass door‑to‑door, verify voter details, and help new voters enroll. Dotasra said that Congress will not allow BJP’s interference in local elections, citing recent policing tactics in the Anta Assembly by‑election.
The campaign was a major success: over 1.5 million signatures were collected across the state. Those signatures will be sent to the All‑India Congress Committee (AICC). A big rally is planned in New Delhi in late November to close out the movement.
Other speakers—Gehlot, Pilot, Jully, and Joshi—offered remarks, while State Congress Media Incharge Swarnim Chaturvedi confirmed that signatures from all districts were handed over at the ceremony. AICC training teams ran a PowerPoint session for assembly coordinators, who received lists of Booth Level Agents for their areas and were urged to meet their teams within three days to share what they learned.
