New Delhi, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh sparked a new conversation on Sunday, hinting that the Sindh province, which was incorporated into Pakistan after the 1947 Partition, might one day return to India’s fold.
Speaking at a ceremony in the capital, Singh stressed India’s deep civilisational ties to Sindh, arguing that physical borders are temporary.
He noted that, while Sindh is not part of India’s current political map, it remains a vital thread in the nation’s cultural memory.
“Sindh may not be with us geographically, but civilisationally it has always been a part of India,” he told the audience.
He added that historical borders have shifted over time and that, “who knows, one day Sindh may come back to India.”
Citing veteran BJP stalwart L.K. Advani, who hails from Sindh, Singh said Sindhi Hindus have never fully accepted the Partition‑driven split from their homeland.
Channeling Advani, he highlighted that many people of that era still feel a strong sense of loss and displacement.
He also drew attention to the shared reverence for the Indus River among different communities.
“For Hindus, the Indus is sacred. And as Advani ji wrote, many Muslims in Sindh believed that the river’s water was as holy as the ‘Aab‑e‑Zamzam’ of Mecca,” he remarked, underscoring the unity that pre‑dated 1947.
Singh reiterated points he made in Morocco on September 22, where he predicted that Pakistan‑Occupied Kashmir (PoK) would eventually rejoin India without a military confrontation.
He pointed out that the people of PoK are already demanding freedom from Pakistani rule.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla praised the Sindhi community’s unwavering dedication to service and deep cultural legacy, noting how these attributes contribute significantly to India’s social, economic, and cultural progress.
During the “Sashakt Samaj – Samridh Bharat” event, organized by the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations at the Vigyan Bhawan, Speaker Birla lauded the community’s collective strength and resilience, observing that it embodies the core ideals of a strong India.
