Bihar’s political tensions are heating up after a fresh allegation of abusive language targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during an RJD rally. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary called out the incident, which happened Saturday at a public meeting in Patepur Assembly constituency, with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav right there on stage.
In a video he shared on X (formerly Twitter), Choudhary didn’t hold back. “Once again, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother faced abuse from Tejashwi Yadav’s platform, in his presence,” he said. “This is deeply unfortunate and a serious attack on democracy. Is this how the opposition does politics? Has insulting mothers and sisters become their go-to tactic? Bihar’s people will answer back through the ballot.”
BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya jumped in with his own sharp criticism on X. “Derogatory words were hurled at the Prime Minister’s late mother again today at the RJD event in Patepur,” Malviya wrote. “Tejashwi Yadav stood on stage but did nothing to stop it. First, Bihar Congress shared that vile video, and now RJD lets this slide. That’s the opposition for you—no respect, no decorum.”
So far, Tejashwi Yadav and the RJD haven’t responded to the BJP’s claims.
This marks the third controversy in just 30 days over insults aimed at Heeraben Modi, the Prime Minister’s late mother. Last month, during Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga, a man named Mohammad Rizvi made a shocking remark about her. Police in Darbhanga arrested him, and he’s still in custody.
Not long after, Bihar Congress posted an AI-generated video on its X account showing Heeraben Modi in a dream sequence with the Prime Minister. It sparked massive backlash, leading to a court case in Patna. The High Court ordered them to take it down from everywhere.
These back-to-back incidents are ramping up the feud between BJP and opposition parties like RJD and Congress in Bihar politics, just as election season looms.
