In Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, spiritual leader Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the high priest of Bageshwar Dham, shared his thoughts on key issues like Bundelkhand statehood and stray cattle problems. Talking to reporters, he strongly backed the idea of making Bundelkhand a separate state, saying it could spark huge development and growth in the region.
“If Bundelkhand becomes its own state, it’ll bring real progress and energy to the area,” Shastri said. “But that’s up to the government and the laws of the country—our leaders will decide wisely.”
He didn’t hold back on the plight of stray cows in Madhya Pradesh and Bundelkhand either. Calling it a “huge misfortune” for Hindus and Indian society, Shastri pointed out how cows—revered as mothers—end up roaming streets. “This breaks our hearts,” he added.
To fix this, Shastri urged the government to act fast on stray cattle management. He suggested building 5-10 big cowsheds in every district to shelter them. “Each one could hold 4,000 to 5,000 cows, so we’d clear the streets, give them proper care, and avoid any religious wrongs,” he explained. This move, he believes, would ease daily hassles for people and honor our traditions.
Shastri also stressed the need for national unity and patriotism. “Rashtra and Ram must go hand in hand,” he said. “Every Indian should feel patriotic—let’s sing the National Anthem at least once a week in temples, churches, mosques, and shrines. It’ll keep our love for the nation strong and united.”
On a lighter note, he congratulated the Annapurna Ramlila Committee for their 75th Amrit Mahotsav celebrations this year.
Looking ahead, Shastri announced an exciting spiritual event: a massive padyatra from November 7 to 16. Starting at Delhi’s Adya Katyayani Mata Mandir, it’ll cover over 140 km through Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, ending at Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. “Lakhs of devotees from states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh will join,” he said. “It’ll be one of the biggest spiritual gatherings of the year, full of devotion and energy.”
