RJD leader’s body found in Jharkhand’s Palamu, family alleges murder

Tension is rising in Jharkhand’s Palamu district after locals discovered the body of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Jaishankar Thakur in a field near his village. The 52-year-old, who led the RJD’s Backward Class Cell in Palamu, went missing Monday morning, sparking fears of foul play.
Thakur, from Utaki village under the Patan police station, headed to his farmland around 6:30 a.m. as usual. When he didn’t return hours later, his family searched and found his body about half a kilometer away. Burn marks on the corpse led them to suspect someone attacked him and used acid to destroy evidence.
” We believe he was murdered,” his relatives told reporters, their voices filled with grief. Thakur leaves behind three sons, including one living abroad, and his family remains convinced this was no accident.
Patan police rushed to the scene with a dog squad to start investigating. So far, they haven’t pinpointed the cause of death. Station House Officer Shashi Shekhar Pandey noted that early signs point to a possible lightning strike. “We’ll know more from the post-mortem report,” he said. “Our team is checking every angle.”
But villagers aren’t buying that explanation. They say the weather stayed clear all day with no storms or lightning in sight. Word of Thakur’s death spread fast, drawing crowds from nearby areas and heating up the mood. Police quickly sent in extra forces to keep things calm and avoid any trouble.
RJD leaders across Jharkhand expressed outrage and sorrow, calling the case “highly suspicious.” They urged authorities for a full, unbiased probe into what happened to their colleague in Palamu. As the investigation continues, the community waits for answers in this shocking Jharkhand incident.
