70 pc of PM Modi’s internal security-related directives implemented in Tripura: CM Manik Saha

Agartala, Dec 12 – Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, told reporters on Friday that the state has already put about seventy‑percent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directives from the recent All‑India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGsP/IGsP) in Raipur into practice.

Saha, who also heads the Home Department, explained that the media briefing followed a state‑level review meeting where he assessed the outcomes of the DGsP/IGsP Conference‑2025. He noted that the meeting was a direct follow‑up to the 60th All‑India Conference of DGs and IGs that took place in Chhattisgarh’s capital on November 29‑30.

The three‑day national conference was attended by Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. The agenda focused on internal security, emerging threats and new challenges.

In the conference, the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and senior police officials discussed nationwide security concerns, including how protests can be financed by certain NGOs and foreign entities and how logistical support is arranged. “A comprehensive discussion took place,” Saha said.

He added that today’s police force has responsibilities that extend well beyond crime prevention, covering disaster response, public safety and other social issues.

Regarding international developments, Saha said, “After Operation Sindoor, many foreign countries came forward, but External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made it clear that India needs partners, not suggestions. Before 2014, the country was not stable and was surrounded by challenges from Pakistan and China. Attempts were made to weaken India, especially by Pakistan, leading to the martyrdom of many BSF, CRPF and police personnel. This cannot continue.”

Saha stressed that Tripura has already implemented more than seventy‑percent of the recommendations issued by Modi and Shah last month, and that “we are on the right track, and this has been proven. But we must strengthen it further.”

He urged senior officers at the Friday meeting to align with PM Modi’s vision of a “New India” and to work toward building a “New Tripura.”

All police officials were instructed to read and follow the Prime Minister’s guidelines thoroughly.

Saha emphasized that bolstering democracy leads to better law and order, and he encouraged the police to stay pro‑people. “Uniform is an ornament, and police officers should wear it with pride. Their behaviour and expressions must also be empathetic and people‑friendly,” he remarked.

He added that he seldom interferes in police operations, a stance the state government shares, and described this as a “golden opportunity” for Tripura Police to establish the state as a model of effective policing and law and order.

The conference was attended by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, and other senior officials at Pragna Bhavan.
