A Nepal-like situation could arise if vote rigging takes place during Bihar vote counting, says RJD leader

Patna, Nov 13 – The polls for Bihar’s 2025 assembly elections have finished, so all eyes turn to vote counting tomorrow. But the mood is tense after RJD aide Sunil Kumar Singh warned that any tampering with the results could spark unrest like Nepal’s recent crisis.
Singh, a close aide of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and mother‑in‑law Rabri Devi, and the maternal uncle of candidate Tejashwi Yadav, said the state could see “a difficult situation” if the count is gerrymandered. “If the same 4‑to‑5‑hour delay that happened in 2020 re‑occurs tomorrow, either our candidate will appear at the centres or the Returning Officers,” he told reporters. He promised that “any attempt at rigging will not be tolerated” and warned that RJD workers would march to protest.
The RJD’s claim that government officials might interfere in the counting triggered strong reactions from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said the party’s message was “provocative” and that the administration would clamp down on any vandalism. “Rule of law governs Bihar,” Jaiswal said. “If RJD workers incite arson or any other mischief, the government will respond firmly. The people chose the NDA, and the RJD is acting out of fear of defeat.”
Sunil Kumar Singh’s remarks once again put him at the center of controversy. His outspoken comments have stirred public sentiment, and with counting slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, the political climate remains on edge as both alliances prepare for a close contest.
