Security forces in Manipur have arrested a key member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) right from his home in Imphal East district. The suspect, 53-year-old Kshetrimayum Brajamohon Singh, also known as Ingo, lived in Nungol Makha Leikai under Lamlai Police Station. Police say he blocked government schemes and threatened to close down shops in the Lamlai area. Officers seized a mobile phone from him during the raid on Tuesday.
Manipur Police continue their push against crime with ongoing search operations in risky border zones across the state. They’re running intelligence-driven combing missions and cordon-and-search drives to catch extortionists and other criminals hiding out.
In a separate effort to tackle illegal drugs, Manipur Police teamed up with forest officials and village leaders in Senapati district. On Tuesday, they used drones for an aerial survey over Upper and Lower Khabung villages. The scan revealed about 13 hectares of forest land cleared for poppy cultivation, with some areas already planted. Officials warned the village chairman to destroy the crops immediately and stop any more poppy farming.
Traffic enforcement didn’t take a break either. Manipur Police issued 35 challans to drivers breaking road rules, collecting Rs. 46,000 in fines.
To keep essentials flowing, authorities ensured safe passage for 421 vehicles along National Highway 37 (NH-37). They ramped up security in vulnerable spots, including convoys on sensitive routes, to prevent disruptions.
Statewide, police set up 114 checkpoints and nakas in hill and valley districts. Thankfully, no one got held up at these spots on Tuesday.
Manipur Police are also urging people to stay sharp against rumors and fake videos spreading online. If you spot suspicious clips or audio, verify them by calling the Central Control Room at 9233522822. They’re warning that sharing fake social media posts could lead to legal trouble.
Finally, police are calling on the public to hand over any looted arms, ammo, or explosives to the nearest station or security forces right away. This helps keep Manipur safer amid ongoing tensions.
