Security tensions rose in Rajouri, a town in Jammu and Kashmir, after police and suspected terrorists clashed last night. The police say the fight happened in the Beeranthub area, which falls under Kandi police station. Special Operations Group (SOG) officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police engaged the attackers and the encounter ended after a firefight.
After the incident, police, army soldiers and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rushed to the scene. They immediately cordoned off the area around the Budhal road – a major route that leads from Rajouri to Kotranka. Checks on vehicles have intensified. Security teams are posted at multiple points on the road, stopping cars from passing without thorough inspection.
Local officials say the police are keeping the area under tight control while the combined forces conduct a sweep to ensure no further threats remain. The heightened security is aimed at preventing any additional attacks before the region can return to normal operations. ()
