Red Fort blast: Siddaramaiah expresses shock, directs police chief to maintain high alert in K’taka

The red‑brick blast outside Delhi’s Red Fort shocked residents and lawmakers across India. A car near Gate 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station exploded, killing several people and sending cars into flames. The sudden blast rattled the Old Delhi neighbourhood, shattering windows and sending black smoke into the air. Witnesses described a “deafening roar” that felt like the earth was cracking.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka reacted on Monday, calling the incident “deeply sorrowful and shocking.” He urged the state police to keep a high alert in all districts, especially in Bengaluru, and told the Home Department to strengthen security at crowded places. “No untoward incident should happen in our state,” he said, asking the public to cooperate with police efforts.
Other leaders joined in condolences. Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of life and prayed for the injured’s recovery. BJP’s state president, B. Y. Vijayendra, also expressed sympathy for the families affected.
The attack follows an earlier police raid in Faridabad, Haryana, where authorities seized 2,900 kg of explosives, rifles, pistols, and timers linked to terrorist groups Jaish‑e‑Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwat‑ul‑Hind. Seven suspects were arrested during the operation.
This violent incident comes just a day before the second phase of Bihar assembly elections, heightening security concerns across the country. Karnataka’s government is on high alert, and national security forces are tightening measures to prevent any further attacks.
