Six youths held in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas for gang-raping minor, stripping and filming another girl
Kolkata, Nov 26 (LatestNewsX) – Police in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district have arrested six youths on Wednesday. They are accused of gang‑raping a minor and recording another girl while she was unclothed. The arrests came on Tuesday night, five days after the alleged crime took place in Narendrapur.
According to the complaint lodged at the Narendrapur police station on Nov 20, two eighth‑grade girls ran down the road to a shop near their home for a snack. Two men they knew had arrived on a motorcycle, promising a ride. After a brief detour, the boys took the girls to a local garage and later to a friend’s house where none of the families were around.
There, the friend’s son and another young man entered. When the girls tried to leave, they were told they could stay a bit longer and then return home. At that point, six men gathered at the house. One minor was forced to become a victim of rape after intimidation; the other escaped because she was menstruating.
The victim’s complaint states that four of the men raped her, while two more molested her friend. The friend was not raped because of her period, but she was made to remove her clothes, and the men recorded her naked.
Police say the students went home on the night of Nov 20. The next day, a family filed a complaint at the station, prompting a search for the suspects. On Tuesday night, the police located a few of them, arrested and interrogated them, and subsequently caught the remaining accused.
“A total of six persons have been arrested on charges of gang‑raping a minor and videotaping another girl, based on the complaint lodged by the victim,” a senior officer of the Baruipur police district said. He added that the men will be brought before a local court in Baruipur and that the police will seek their custody for further investigation.
