Telangana: BRS promises to stand by victims of Regional Ring Road

Hyderabad, Sep 22 – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K.T. Rama Rao pledged strong support for farmers hit hard by the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project in Telangana. Speaking on Monday, the BRS working president assured victims from Nalgonda and Suryapet districts, along with folks from Gajwel and Sangareddy constituencies, that his party has their back.

A group of affected residents met Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan to share their struggles over the RRR alignment, which has caused major land losses. Former Minister Jagadish Reddy joined them, along with leaders from the old Nalgonda district and local representatives.

Rama Rao pointed out how Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi promised before the elections that the RRR wouldn’t hurt anyone. Farmers trusted those words and helped vote Congress into power in Telangana. But once in charge, the government shifted the road’s path, leaving farmers with huge setbacks. He slammed local Congress figures for ditching the farmers right after winning.

Under BRS rule, Rama Rao highlighted, agriculture and irrigation projects always came first, boosting Telangana’s farming community. When land acquisition problems popped up, the BRS team talked directly with farmers, set up rehab plans, and fixed issues for good.

Now, Rama Rao accused Congress of messing up alignments again—just like they did with the Outer Ring Road before—and ruining lives of poor Telangana farmers in the process.

He vowed that BRS MPs will spotlight the RRR victims’ plight in the Rajya Sabha. The party plans to push the issue hard in the state Assembly too, to make the government answer for it. Rama Rao urged farmers to stay strong and avoid rash moves. “BRS will stick with you until we get a smart, science-based RRR alignment,” he said.

To ramp up pressure, he called on RRR victims to unite—pass resolutions in every village and skip the local body elections. That kind of show of strength, he explained, would force both the central and state governments in India to pay attention and act.

Rama Rao also opened Telangana Bhavan as a go-to spot for farmers. “It’s like a people’s hub—come anytime for legal advice, help, or guidance,” he added.

Looking back, he noted how BRS’s 10 years in power transformed Nalgonda district in Telangana, wiping out the fluoride water crisis through Mission Bhagiratha. Farmers who fell for Congress promises now face unfair treatment, he said, urging them not to lose hope.
