Telangana govt selling industrial land worth Rs 5 lakh crore: KTR

Hyderabad, Dec. 28 — BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has again warned that the ruling Congress government in Telangana is letting industrial land go for almost ₹5 lakh crore.
On X, KTR took issue with a post by Congress MP Karti P. Chidambaram about Infosys’s sale of a parcel in Attibele, Karnataka. Chidambaram said that such land, which was transferred at a concession for a specific purpose, could not be sold commercially and called for the return of the land and proceeds to the Government of Karnataka. KTR responded by repeating his claim that the Telangana government is disposing of 9,300 acres of industrial land worth roughly ₹5 lakh crore.
In his post, KTR noted, “These prime lands were given by Govt at a concession for a specific purpose (employment generation) Our demand is also the same. They have no right to sell the land and make money for their kith & kin.” He added that the land should be returned to the government and used for public benefit—schools, hospitals, affordable housing, parks, bus stands and parking.
Earlier this month, KTR accused the Congress administration of a “land scam” worth ₹5 lakh crore under the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy. He argued that lands originally allocated to industries for job creation are now being handed to private individuals, often for residential or commercial projects. According to KTR, while market prices hover around ₹1 lakh per square yard, the government is selling these plots to developers for as little as ₹4,000.
The BRS leader urged real‑estate developers to stay cautious of the government’s offers and warned that should BRS regain power, it would reclaim the lands. (Source: IANS)
