Vemar Primary school in Gujarat’s Vadodara sets example by delivering quality, practical education to children

Ahmedabad, Dec 26 (IANS) – Vemar Primary School in Gujarat’s Vadodara district has gained attention for its innovative approach to early childhood education, according to officials who spoke on Friday.

The school, part of the state government’s “Gyan Hi Shakti Hai” campaign, teaches more than what’s written in textbooks. Emphasis is placed on creative thinking, self‑reliance, and innovation, helping students develop skills they’ll need in the future.

In addition to regular classroom lessons, pupils are drawn into a variety of co‑curriculum and skill‑based programs that boost confidence and uncover hidden talents. The school offers activities like building robots, creating handicrafts and marble art, practicing martial arts, and pursuing vocational training. These hands‑on experiences generate an enthusiastic learning environment for the children.

Teachers actively guide and motivate the students, encouraging them to balance academic knowledge with practical application. This strategy makes learning more engaging and meaningful at the primary level.

Educators at Vemar believe that the early years are critical for shaping both intellectual growth and life skills. The institution aligns closely with the state‑wide Mission Schools of Excellence and the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, both directed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, effectively translating policy into practice on the ground.

By integrating skills training with academics, Vemar Primary School has set a high standard for comprehensive, practical education within Gujarat’s government school system.

The state itself has been building a robust and continually expanding educational infrastructure, spanning primary to higher and technical education. Thousands of government and grant‑in‑aid schools feature upgraded classrooms, digital learning tools, science labs and libraries under initiatives such as Mission Schools of Excellence and Samagra Shiksha.

At the higher‑education level, Gujarat hosts a wide array of universities, engineering and medical colleges, ITIs, and skill‑development centres, including national‑level institutions like IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad and AIIMS Rajkot.

Key education hubs—including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot—benefit from strong physical infrastructure, hostels, research facilities and incubation centres. Digital platforms and smart classrooms are extending last‑mile connectivity into rural areas, positioning Gujarat as one of India’s leading states in educational infrastructure.
