In Hyderabad, families of a 23‑year‑old woman who was found dead have taken her body to protest outside the home of her lover, demanding that the police investigate possible foul play rather than treating the death as a suicide.
The woman, V. Kaveri, was from Kadapal Vithal Naik Tanda in Sirgapoor mandal. She had fallen in love with S. Srikanth, and the two had planned to marry. Their parents, however, opposed the match, and the couple left the district, moving to Hyderabad where they lived together in LB Nagar.
Police reports say that Kaveri died by hanging in their Hyderabad apartment, a death the authorities are treating as a suicide. Kaveri’s parents, who believe Srikanth killed their daughter and staged the scene to look like a suicide, have filed a complaint. Following the police’s initiation of an inquiry, the family tried to transport her body back to her hometown for the last rites on Saturday night. While en route, they stopped at Srikanth’s house in Manik Naik Tanda, Nizampet mandal, and staged a protest demanding a fair investigation.
As the tension mounted, police dispatched additional security to the village to prevent any escalation. Local elders were also attempting to mediate between the two families and find a resolution.
In a separate incident in Hyderabad, authorities are investigating the death of a 10th‑grade student who allegedly took his own life after being scolded by his father for not concentrating on his studies. The boy, Arvind, was found hanging in his home in the Domalguda area. He was a student at a private school in Gandhi Nagar, and his father claimed that the boy had been under significant exam pressure. The police have registered a case and are looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.
