Delhi Police Busts ISIS Network: Telangana Youth Among Five Arrested in Terror Plot
Delhi Police has cracked down on a suspected ISIS terror network, arresting five people from across India, including a 20-year-old B.Pharma student from Telangana. The arrests come as part of a major probe into an alleged terror plot aimed at recruiting young people for the banned group.
The Telangana youth, named Huzaifa Yemen, hails from Bodhan town. On Wednesday, a team from Delhi Police’s elite Special Cell picked him up and brought him to the capital for questioning. Police sources say they found PDF files and literature on arms and weapons on his devices. Luckily, no actual arms or explosives turned up in his possession.
Huzaifa studies at a local college, and his family is standing by him. They insist he has no ties to any terror groups and are shocked by the arrest. After Delhi Police swooped in, local cops in Bodhan started digging into his contacts back home to uncover any local links.
This bust follows hot on the heels of another arrest in Jharkhand. There, authorities nabbed Ashar Danish, the alleged mastermind of the ISIS module. Danish reportedly used a secret video call app to connect with terror suspects and coordinate activities. The operation involved Delhi’s Special Cell, Jharkhand’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Ranchi police.
The other three arrests include two Mumbai natives caught in Delhi and one youth picked up in Madhya Pradesh. All five suspects were part of an ISIS-inspired sleeper cell, police say. Their main jobs? Building bombs, sourcing weapons, and luring more recruits to boost the terror group’s reach in India.
Investigators seized materials for making explosive devices from the group. They were also chatting with handlers in Pakistan via social media apps, pushing the ISIS agenda forward. The network was all about radicalizing youngsters and planning attacks, according to sources.
