Beed, Nov 5 – Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena party, said Wednesday that the Mahayuti government’s ₹31,628‑crore aid for farmers hit by rain and flooding is not enough. He called for an immediate farm‑loan waiver instead of waiting until June next year.
After meeting farmers in Pali village, Thackeray criticized Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for saying the loan relief would come next June. “Why let farmers keep paying now if the government will waive the loans later?” he asked. “The farmers need the money today – we will vote only if the government clears their debts.”
Thackeray said Fadnavis’s promise of a June waiver was just empty words. He even shared a video of the chief minister telling farmers he would wipe out their debt once the government took office. “What happened to that promise?” he demanded.
The Shiv Sena leader also slammed Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who said the loan‑waiver promise was made to win votes. “The BJP is exploiting families and sowing divide,” Thackeray added. He criticized the state’s ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,’ which gives monthly financial aid to women. “Now only two women in a family get the benefit, while before elections everyone got it,” he said, calling the new rule unfair.
Thackeray urged the government to act quickly. “First waive the loans, then the farmers will vote for us,” he told the farmers. The Mahayuti government will need to decide whether it can meet the urgent demand for farm‑loan relief in Maharashtra’s drought‑stricken and flood‑affected regions.
