In a strong endorsement, BJP MLA Ram Kadam has backed former US President Donald Trump’s recent praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it an undeniable truth that reflects India’s rising global stature.
Speaking to the press, Kadam stated, “US President Trump called PM Modi a great leader. This is the truth, and no one can deny it.” He emphasized that the respect India now commands on the world stage has grown immensely over the last decade.
Kadam pointed to the Prime Minister’s international visits as a source of national pride. “Whenever PM Modi travels abroad, the kind of respect he receives gives every Indian a sense of pride,” he said. He also highlighted a shift in how the world views India, noting, “Looking at India’s passport 11 years ago was different. Now immigration officers in foreign countries see it with respect. This pride is given by PM Modi.”
His comments follow Donald Trump’s recent remarks from the Oval Office, where he described PM Modi as a “great Prime Minister” and reaffirmed the “special relationship” between India and the United States.
“I’ll always be friends with (Narendra) Modi… He’s a great Prime Minister. He’s great,” Trump said. He did, however, add a note of caution, stating, “But I just don’t like what he’s doing at this particular moment.” The former president specifically mentioned his disappointment with India’s purchase of Russian oil and announced that he had imposed a “very big tariff on India.”
Despite these current challenges, Trump was quick to add, “There’s nothing to worry about. We just have moments on occasion.”
Prime Minister Modi responded to these comments on social media platform X, writing that he “deeply appreciate(s) and fully reciprocate(s) President Trump’s sentiments.” He also highlighted the “very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership” between the two nations.
