PM-KUSUM Scheme Lights Up Farmers’ Lives in Maharashtra Village
Farmers across India are seeing real change thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan, or PM-KUSUM scheme. This solar power initiative is making a big difference in places like Shingave village in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. It’s helping farmers get affordable, eco-friendly energy for irrigation and ditching old problems with unreliable electricity.
The PM-KUSUM scheme gives farmers solar-powered pumps to water their fields without hassle. No more waiting for grid power or wasting money on diesel – this program tackles those issues head-on and boosts sustainable farming in India.
Take Dilip Sayaji Shejwal, a farmer from Shingave in Rahata tehsil. He shares how tough things were before. "Power cuts meant I couldn’t irrigate my crops on time, and that hurt my yields badly," Dilip says. But now, with his solar pump from PM-KUSUM, everything’s changed. "I water my fields whenever I need to, and my crops are growing better than ever." He even thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this game-changing government scheme.
Yogesh Vasantrao Wable, another happy farmer in the village, got his solar pump too. He no longer relies on the erratic electricity grid. "This has cut my farming costs a lot and saved me from blackouts," Yogesh explains. "My income’s up because of the savings, and farming feels less stressful and more sustainable."
At its core, PM-KUSUM delivers clean, cheap solar energy to farmers for irrigation. It cuts down on diesel use and power woes, helping them save money while ramping up productivity. Farmers like Dilip and Yogesh now plan their work better with steady water supply, leading to higher earnings and a better life.
Stories from Shingave show how PM-KUSUM is transforming rural India. It’s empowering farmers with renewable energy solutions, increasing agricultural output, and protecting the environment. As the government expands this initiative, more farmers nationwide will benefit, pushing forward energy security and economic growth in farming.
