Tripura CM Manik Saha Urges Mass Movement Against Drug Addiction, HIV, and AIDS
In Agartala, Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha called on people to join hands in a big awareness drive against drug addiction, HIV, and AIDS. He made this appeal during the 44th Foundation Day celebration and blood donation camp organized by Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha at Sree Sree Mahanam Angan in Banamalipur on Sunday.
Saha highlighted how blood donation camps like this one send a strong message and inspire more folks to step up and donate blood willingly. "Blood is irreplaceable," he said. "And remember, we can donate not just blood but also organs like kidneys and livers to save lives."
He stressed the need for open discussions to build public awareness on tough issues like addiction, HIV, and AIDS. "The Tripura government stands ready to support these efforts," Saha assured. "Let’s unite against drugs and work together to build a stronger nation."
Turning to national progress, Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on uplifting the poor. He mentioned initiatives like Lakhpati Didis, which empower women through self-help groups (SHGs) that have grown in numbers. "We should spread the word about these positive changes and back the government’s push for entrepreneurship," he added. "There are plenty of opportunities out there. Stand firm against harmful practices—many have fought them before, and PM Modi is reviving India’s rich culture and history with that in mind."
Saha encouraged everyone to chase goals with clear vision and strong ideals. "That’s how you’ll discover your true self," he said.
He also shared India’s impressive growth story. "Our economy has jumped from 11th to 4th place globally. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we’re aiming for a developed India—Viksit Bharat—by 2047. Every home should see real development and rising per capita income."
The event saw attendance from Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Corporator Ratna Datta, and other local leaders.
