Agartala, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) – Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha has ordered the West Tripura District Magistrate and the state Education Directorate to carry out a detailed probe into the tragic death of Dipannita Pal, the seven‑year‑old second‑class student.
The CM, who heads the Elementary and Secondary Education Departments, personally visited Dipannita’s home in Jogendra Nagar, a suburb of Agartala, and expressed deep sympathy to the grieving family.
“I have been monitoring the matter. I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Dipannita Pal, and expressed my heartfelt condolences to the family members. The untimely demise of an innocent child is truly heartbreaking and painful,” CM Saha told reporters on Saturday.
He added that while Dipannita was admitted to Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital, his office maintained regular contact with the attending physicians.
“Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Dipannita left us with no return. Necessary instructions have been given to the District Magistrate and the Directorate of Education to investigate the incident. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation report.” He emphasized that the state government would support the bereaved family and offer maximum assistance during this difficult period.
The incident sent shockwaves through Agartala earlier this week after the school’s leadership was accused of neglect. Dipannita drowned in severe sunstroke after reportedly being forced to stand under a blazing sun for a school program.
According to family members, on Nov 9 the children were told to participate in an outdoor activity right under direct sunlight. When Dipannita repeatedly told her teacher that she felt unwell, she was allegedly told to keep standing despite the heat.
Witnesses said the girl collapsed suddenly during the event. The family rushed her to a hospital, where doctors confirmed that she had endured a serious case of sunstroke that caused partial paralysis.
She fought for several days but sadly passed away on Nov 18, leaving her family in despair and the local community stunned.
