In Agartala, Tripura, the Tripura Commission for Women kicked off an engaging awareness program on Saturday to boost women’s health and proper nutrition. This event ties into the central government’s flagship Rashtriya Poshan Maah initiative, focusing on key aspects of women’s nutrition and overall well-being.
The program fits right into the Swasth Nari Aur Swasth Parivar Abhiyan campaign, which drives home the idea that healthy women lead to thriving families. It also supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Healthy Women, Healthy India drive, all about empowering women and strengthening family health. Dignitaries joined the event, where speakers stressed how good nutrition plays a big role in preventing issues like obesity, diabetes, and other lifestyle diseases, while also tackling challenges such as domestic violence.
The Tripura Women Commission is rolling out these awareness campaigns and community activities across the state, even reaching remote spots like Belonia and Maithra. As part of a packed September schedule under nutrition awareness efforts, expect more health camps, blood donation drives, and seminars to educate people on balanced diets and healthy living.
One standout session, titled “Obesity – Reducing Consumption of Sugar, Salt, and Oil,” came from the Tripura Women Commission with sponsorship from the National Commission for Women. Experts there shared practical tips on cutting back on sugars, salts, and oils to fight chronic illnesses and promote healthier lifestyles.
The initiative teams up with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the Child Welfare Division, and local health authorities for a well-rounded push on public health. Organizers urge everyone to get involved in women’s health and nutrition drives to build a stronger, healthier society.
Jharna Majumder, Chairperson of the Tripura Women Commission, told : “Our awareness program in September spotlights proper nutrition. We’ve lined up several activities under this effort. The Prime Minister launched Healthy Women, Healthy India to empower women, and today’s event follows that vision. Many dignitaries attended, and we’re zeroing in on women’s issues from domestic violence to other big challenges. This helps highlight and address them head-on.”
