On Monday in Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reaffirmed his government’s pledge to keep public‑sector recruitment open and fair, while pushing forward reforms in education and health.
During a ceremony at the Muktadhara Auditorium, he handed appointment letters to 102 physical‑education teachers and 55 special‑education teachers from the School Education Department, emphasizing that the BJP‑led administration has been transparent in hiring from day one.
Saha declared that no one can now claim a job in the public sector depends on political ties; qualified applicants are guaranteed a chance. He noted that more than 20,000 people have already secured jobs in various state departments, including 6,998 new positions in the Education Department for postgraduate, graduate, and undergraduate teachers, underscoring the focus on strengthening human resources in that sector.
Improving the standard of schooling remains a top priority. “Our goal is to give students a learning environment that is friendly, conducive, and supportive,” he said, adding that the newcomers’ credentials prove they deserve their seats.
The Chief Minister highlighted several National Education Policy initiatives rolled out under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, aimed at revitalising traditional Indian educational values. Over 5,000 adults have been hired through contract and outsourcing arrangements.
He listed a host of state‑level education reforms, including Nipun Tripura, CM Saath, Mission Mukul, and Saharsha, two pilot programs that turned 125 schools into Vidya Jyoti institutions and 84 into PM‑Shrin schools. The CM Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana was unveiled as a new drive to empower girl students.
Tripura’s higher‑education landscape now boasts three medical colleges, nursing and midwifery schools, agricultural, fisheries and veterinary colleges, an Indian Institute of Technology, a National Law University, a National Forensic Science University, National Institutes of Technology, and several private universities. Under the Target Project, ten aspirants have already received assistance to sit national exams.
The event was attended by senior officials such as Special Secretary of Education Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Director of School Education N.C. Sharma, Director of Basic Education Rajiv Dutta, and Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training, L. Darlong. sc/khz
