TVK to limit Vijay’s Dec 18 Erode campaign to two hours

Erode, Dec 13 (LatestNewsX) – Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor‑politician Vijay will head to Erode on December 18, said K.A. Sengottaiyan, the party’s Executive Committee Chief Coordinator, in a statement. The rally is slated to last roughly two hours.
The venue will be close to the Vijayamangalam toll plaza, and all preparations are being carried out under the strict guidelines set by local authorities. Sengottaiyan clarified that the site is not owned by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, dispelling earlier concerns. He also confirmed that there are no restrictions on holding the event on land belonging to the Vijayapuri Amman Temple, and that the programme adheres to all legal and administrative requirements.
The former minister added that any other political leaders who join TVK in Erode will be identified later. He reiterated that membership is open to anyone, while alliance decisions will rest solely with President Vijay. Sengottaiyan expressed pride in his role within TVK.
He also recalled his past service to the AIADMK during the eras of M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, noting a similar sense of purpose and confidence under Vijay’s leadership.
TVK was officially launched earlier this year, marking Vijay’s significant foray into Tamil Nadu politics. Since then, the party has expanded its organisational reach across the state and positioned itself as a people‑centric alternative ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
The decision to cap the Erode event at two hours follows increased attention to crowd safety after a recent stampede at a TVK‑related gathering. In response, the leadership has tightened safety protocols and adjusted schedules to avoid overcrowding.
Sengottaiyan’s move into TVK is seen as a pivotal development, especially in western Tamil Nadu where he wields substantial influence. His presence is expected to bolster the party’s organisational strength and administrative capacity.
With the Erode rally drawing significant public interest, TVK continues its outreach across the state while carefully balancing mass mobilisation with safety and regulatory compliance.
