Security Forces Neutralize Two Terrorists in Intense Gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam

In a major breakthrough against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces took down two terrorists during an ongoing operation in Kulgam’s Gudar forest area on Monday. This clash marks another bold step in the fight against terror groups trying to stir trouble in the region.

The action kicked off when joint teams of army and other security personnel launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) based on solid intelligence about terrorists hiding in the dense Gudar forest. As the forces closed in, the hiding militants opened fire, sparking a fierce gunfight. Officials confirmed that the encounter ended with two terrorists killed, but not without cost—one junior commissioned officer (JCO) and other soldiers got injured in the exchange. The wounded heroes were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, and they’re now recovering.

This isn’t just a one-off strike. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are ramping up aggressive anti-terror operations, targeting not only the gun-toting terrorists but also their overground workers (OGWs) and local sympathizers. The goal? To completely dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory (UT). Experts say focusing only on eliminating armed militants isn’t enough—you have to cut off the support network that keeps terrorism alive.

The timing feels tense after the suspension of Operation Sindoor. Terrorists, backed by handlers across the border, have been attempting to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC). The LoC stretches a whopping 740 km, with the Indian Army standing guard. Plus, there’s a 240-km International Border in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts, vigilantly watched by the Border Security Force (BSF).

To make things worse, terrorist outfits with Pakistan’s help are using drones along the International Border to drop weapons, drugs, and cash into Indian territory. These sneaky tactics aim to fuel more violence in Jammu and Kashmir. But the BSF isn’t sitting idle—they’ve deployed advanced anti-drone technology to block these cross-border supplies and stop the terror handlers in Pakistan from succeeding.

Security agencies are also cracking down on drug smugglers and hawala money networks, as these rackets generate funds that directly support terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Investigations show most of these operations trace back to Pakistan, where terror bosses pull the strings. By targeting drug peddlers and illegal money flows, forces hope to starve terrorism of its financial lifeline.

This Kulgam encounter highlights the relentless efforts to secure Jammu and Kashmir. With such operations, India continues to send a strong message: terrorism will not take root here. Stay tuned for more updates on the fight against terror in the region.
