Uttarakhand Launches Probe into Graduate Exam Malpractice Allegations
In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, authorities have kicked off a judicial probe into serious claims of cheating in the 2025 Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level exam. The move comes amid growing concerns over irregularities that could affect thousands of job-seeking candidates.
The state government tapped retired Justice BS Verma, a former judge from the Uttarakhand High Court in Nainital, to oversee the investigation. This step aims to keep things fair and transparent from start to finish.
Home Secretary Shailash Bagoli issued an official memo outlining Justice Verma’s role. He’ll keep a close eye on the Special Investigation Team (SIT), visit districts across Uttarakhand, check out complaints, and offer guidance to the SIT whenever needed.
Just two days ago, on September 24, the government set up a five-member SIT to dig deep into the UKSSSC exam scam allegations. Leading the team is Dehradun Rural Superintendent of Police Jaya Baluni. Her group will hunt for facts and pinpoint anyone involved in the supposed wrongdoing.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the issue head-on today, vowing strong action once the SIT wraps up. He pointed to the state’s tough anti-cheating laws, which have helped run smooth exams and cut down on fraud for the last four years.
"We brought in the strictest anti-cheating law to take down the cheating mafia here," Dhami said at the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Excellence Awards ceremony. "Thanks to that, we’ve completed all exams successfully in four years, and 25,000 young people landed government jobs. In 2022-23, we rolled out the law and locked up more than 100 members of these cheating networks. But some folks are still trying to drag our youth’s future into the dark. We’ve all seen how one cheating tip-off at a center sparks total chaos."
Dhami’s comments highlight Uttarakhand’s ongoing battle against exam fraud, a big deal for students chasing stable government roles in the state. As the probe unfolds, many hope it uncovers the truth and restores trust in the UKSSSC recruitment process.
