Agartala, Nov 22 (LatestNewsX) – Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha opened a freshly built solid‑concrete house for the Puthiba Devta Bari temple in Abhaynagar, an area largely occupied by a Manipuri community on the edge of Agartala.
He reminded everyone that “unity in diversity” is a defining feature of India and urged that all communities preserve their harmony.
Speaking at the launch, Saha observed that, even though the northeastern states differ widely, they share a deep bond of unity. He said this bond is strengthened through the exchange of culture and tradition.
The state has invested ₹74 lakh in constructing this durable edifice for the historic temple.
The CM also highlighted how ancient the Manipuri culture and traditions are, noting their roots in the state’s royal past. “The state government is committed to preserving and developing the culture and traditions of every community—castes and tribes alike,” he added, outlining various plans he is spearheading as the Information and Cultural Minister.
He pointed out that Manipuri dance, drama, and handloom crafts enjoy fame across India and abroad, a source of national pride. The government is working to raise the socio‑economic status of Manipuris residing in the state, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on unity in diversity.
Present at the ceremony were Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba, former Manipur minister and current MLA Suchindra Meitei, Secretary of Puthiba Welfare and Cultural Society Dipak Kumar Sinha, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, renowned social worker Papiya Dutta, and Puthiba Welfare and Cultural Society Advisor Niranjan Dutta, among others.
