“Talks are still underway in NDA,” says Upendra Kushwaha on seat-sharing

Patna – In the lead‑up to Bihar’s two‑phase assembly election, Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha said earlier this week that what the press has called a finished seat‑sharing deal within the National Democratic Alliance is not true. He told reporters as he headed to New Delhi that talks are still ongoing and no final agreements have been made.

The election will be held on November 6 for the first round and November 11 for the second. Counting of votes is scheduled for November 14. Kushwaha’s comments come right before the NDA leaders, including the BJP, are set to resume negotiations in Delhi.

“Some media outlets say we’ve already split seats and even given some to my party. That’s wrong. Discussions are still moving,” he told the press. “I’ve been called by the BJP to Delhi, and the talks will pick up there.”

Local party leaders on the other side of the table kept quiet. Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan said he had nothing to declare at the moment, hinting that any seat‑sharing announcements would come later after the meeting in Delhi.

The state ballot will pit the NDA, led by the BJP, against the INDIA coalition headed by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. India’s roster also includes the Congress, CPI‑ML under Deepankar Bhattacharya, CPI, CPI‑Marxist and the Vikasheel Insaan Party. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor’s team has mapped out a strategy for every one of the state’s 243 seats.

As polls draw near, Bihar’s political alliances and seat‑sharing arrangements remain hot topics. The final line‑up on the ballot will depend on the outcome of the parties’ negotiations in the coming days.
