BJP leader Amit Malviya has welcomed a major US probe into billionaire George Soros for allegedly funding protests, and he’s hinting that it could spotlight similar networks in India, especially those connected to the Opposition.
In a sharp post on X (formerly Twitter), Malviya, who heads the BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, pointed fingers at Opposition figures for copying Soros’s strategies and benefiting from his global funding web. “Early signs suggest the investigation could extend to networks linked to foreign funding—including operatives tied to Soros in India,” he wrote. He added that if the probe digs deep, key Opposition leaders and their allies might face scrutiny for stirring unrest and spreading discord over the past 11 years. “Their campaign of disruption will fail. Let the truth come out,” Malviya urged.
Malviya shared a social media claim that former US President Donald Trump announced on Friday his administration’s plan to investigate Soros and his family for racketeering charges tied to nationwide protests in the US.
This isn’t the first time Malviya has drawn a line between the Indian Opposition and George Soros. Back in June, he accused Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of using Soros’s “playbook” to create electoral chaos in India. Malviya slammed Gandhi for questioning the country’s voting process, saying, “It’s not that Rahul Gandhi doesn’t understand how elections work—he does. But his goal isn’t clarity; it’s chaos.”
In that earlier X post, Malviya repeated claims of a Soros-Gandhi link, accusing the Congress leader of pushing conspiracy theories whenever his party loses polls. “This is straight out of George Soros’s playbook—systematically erode people’s faith in institutions to crack them open for political gains,” he said. Tagging the Election Commission of India’s strong response to Gandhi’s doubts, Malviya praised India’s robust democracy: “Our institutions are resilient, and Indian voters are wise. No manipulation will change that.”
Malviya also called out Gandhi for cherry-picking election results, only accepting wins when they suit him. As the US George Soros investigation unfolds, eyes are now on whether it ripples into Indian politics and foreign funding networks.
