Nine People Injured in Electric Shock Incident in Uttar Pradesh

In Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, nine people suffered electric shocks from high-voltage wires on Thursday, sparking quick action from local officials. The accident happened in Tanah Lotan when someone accidentally touched the live wires, officials said.

Local MLA Shyamdhani Rahi explained that a fire started at a height and spread to nearby wires, causing the shocks. "The treatment is going well, and everyone is safe," Rahi told reporters. Firefighters and emergency teams rushed to the scene to handle the situation.

District Magistrate Rajaganapathy R arrived soon after, along with the MLA, to check on the injured. "We met with them today, and they’re all doing fine," Rajaganapathy said. "They’ll be out of the hospital by tomorrow." No deaths were reported, and authorities are investigating to prevent future electric shock incidents in rural areas.

Tragic Collapse at Tamil Nadu Power Plant Kills Nine Migrant Workers

In a separate tragedy, a steel arch collapsed at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site in Tamil Nadu, killing nine workers and injuring one. The accident struck during extension work on the North Chennai Thermal Power Station in Minjur, Thiruvallur district.

TANGEDCO Chairman Dr. J Radhakrishnan confirmed the victims hailed from Assam and nearby areas. "BHEL officials are on site, and we’re supporting the families," he told reporters. The collapse happened suddenly, trapping workers under heavy debris.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma quickly responded, vowing to bring the bodies home. In a post on X, he said four victims came from Karbi Anglong District and five from Hojai District. "We’re coordinating with Tamil Nadu authorities to get their mortal remains back as soon as possible."

This construction site accident in Tamil Nadu has renewed calls for better safety measures at power plant projects across India, especially for migrant workers from Assam facing risks in distant states. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the steel arch collapse.
