Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Uttarakhand’s 25th anniversary in Dehradun on Sunday, unveiling fresh development plans worth more than ₹8 000 cr. The projects cover drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports and skill‑building.
Modi handed out a new commemorative postal stamp and praised Uttarakhand’s progress. He opened ₹930 cr in projects on the day and laid foundation stones for another ₹7 210 cr.
The PM’s visit was welcomed across the state. Many Hindu monks and followers welcomed his promise to turn Uttarakhand into a prosperous “Devbhoomi.” Swami Chidanand Saraswati, head of Parmarth Niketan, highlighted the region’s four holy sites – the Char Dham – and said the state’s spiritual heritage is being boosted by the new initiatives.
Mahamandaleshwar Sadhvi Pushpanjali Puri of the Mahanirvani Akhara applauded Modi’s vision, noting that the state’s budget has grown from ₹4 000 cr to approximately ₹1 lakh cr over 25 years. Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj added that Uttarakhand will soon be recognised as a global spiritual capital.
Chairman of the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, Hemant Dwivedi, praised the PM’s special connection with this small but sacred region. Patanjali Ayurveda’s Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna, welcomed the specific focus on Uttarakhand’s rich traditions and ancient values.
Spiritual guru Swami Hari Chetanananda Maharaj urged Modi to keep the state moving forward while preserving the sanctity of its four Dhams. The day ended with a sense of pride and optimism across Uttarakhand, as the PM’s commitments promise a future of growth and spiritual preservation.
