Vadodara RTO’s AI-based driving test track to undergo repairs; operations suspended from Nov 10 to 23

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Darjipura, Vadodara, will shut its AI‑driven driving‑test track from Nov. 10 to 23 for repair and upgrade work. The RTO said all test appointments that were already set will be moved to new dates. Test takers will get their new schedules by SMS on the mobile number they used to book.

The Gujarat government is updating driving‑test lanes across the state with AI technology to make the process fairer and more accurate. In Darjipura, officials will install about 18 high‑resolution cameras that will watch every move a candidate makes during the test.

Today’s test has four parts: reverse parking, a figure‑eight drive, a reverse S‑turn, and a slope climb. The new AI track will add automatic traffic lights that signal when a candidate can move from one part to the next. Test routes and instructions will also appear online, and every applicant must study them before their test.

“AI will cut down on human error and technical glitches,” RTO officials said. The old system sometimes stalled because of server problems. The new setup promises smoother, more reliable results and equal treatment for all license applicants.

An AI‑powered test track uses cameras, sensors and software to measure speed, turns, parking skill, lane choice and signal responses in real time. By letting the machine do the grading, the system removes bias and gives instant, data‑based scores. It also trains safer drivers and speeds up the licensing process overall.
