Actor linked to overdose death of LA model sentenced to probation

Brandt Osborn, the 46‑year‑old actor who once appeared in an episode of “Nurse Jackie,” was sentenced Monday to two years of probation and 480 hours of community service after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the deaths of model Christy Giles (24) and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales‑Arzola (26). The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office disclosed the terms of his sentence.

David Pearce, a Hollywood producer and club promoter who was 43 at the time, received a first‑degree murder conviction for both Giles’s and Cabrales‑Arzola’s deaths in February. Pearce’s partner in the crime, cinematographer Michael Ansbach—known for work on “Dancing with the Stars” and “Punk’d”—was also detained in connection with the incidents, but no charges were ever filed against him.

According to the DA’s report, on November 13, 2021, Giles told her husband that she and Cabrales‑Arzola were heading to a rave in East Los Angeles. There, the two women met Osborn, Pearce, and Ansbach before returning to Pearce’s Beverly Hills apartment. Pearce supplied them with a cocktail of fentanyl and GHB, leading to their overdose.

After being brought into Pearce’s residence, Giles sent Cabrales‑Arzola a text reading “Let’s go” with a wide‑eyed emoji. Ten minutes later, Cabrales‑Arzola requested an Uber, but the ride never materialized. Roughly eleven hours later, Giles’s body was discovered lifeless outside a Culver City hospital; two hours later, Cabrales‑Arzola was found outside a different Los Angeles County hospital and was taken off life support eleven days later, one day before her 27th birthday.

On the same night, fellow actor David Murrietta Jr. recounted what Osborn told him about the chaotic weekend. “He told me how they’d partied, two girls came back to their place, and the girls had a bunch of drugs,” Murrietta said. Osborn explained that when he left to run an errand and returned, Pearce informed him that Giles had already died. They reportedly decided against calling 911 to avoid consequences and instead drove to drop her body at the hospital. When they came back, they found Cabrales‑Arzola’s pulse barely detectable and chose to transport her to another hospital, again to evade detection, Murrietta added.

The DA’s office confirmed that Osborn was in Pearce’s Toyota Prius at the time the bodies were abandoned at the two hospitals. Osborn’s IMDb profile lists only three acting credits, including his 2014 appearance on “Nurse Jackie.”

Further, Pearce has faced multiple allegations of drug‑facilitated sexual assaults. At his trial, seven victims testified about his predatory behavior and violent tendencies. Pearce received a sentence of 146 years to life in state prison.
