Delhi CM Rekha Gupta hails PM Modi for GST reforms, Swadeshi push

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for his bold GST reforms and his heartfelt push to turn every home and shop into a showcase for Swadeshi products. In a lively address marking the rollout of GST 2.0, Modi urged Indians to embrace homegrown goods and celebrate a “savings festival” right from the start of Navratri.

Gupta shared Modi’s words on X, highlighting how this move kicks off a real “savings festival” on Navratri’s first day. She also pointed out Modi’s emphasis on how MSMEs and small businesses stand to gain big from this next-generation GST system, making operations smoother and more affordable.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva echoed the excitement, calling the GST 2.0 launch a massive gift from Modi’s government to everyday folks and traders across India, especially in Delhi, timed perfectly with Navratri. “These reforms will slash prices on essential goods, let traders pour more money into their businesses, and cut through those pesky tax-related legal headaches,” Sachdeva said.

He dubbed it a true Festival of Savings ahead of the festive rush, promising benefits for traders, shopkeepers, the poor, middle class, youth, farmers, women, and entrepreneurs alike. Sachdeva noted how Modi’s team, after delivering the “One Nation, One Tax” vision with GST, is now lightening wallets just in time for celebrations. He called on Delhi residents to back local products and snag Made-in-India items this season to fuel India’s self-reliant journey under Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

In his nationwide speech before these landmark GST reforms, Modi stressed cooperative federalism, inviting states to team up with the central government for a stronger, self-reliant India. He greeted everyone on the eve of ‘Bachat Utsav’—the Savings Festival—and motivated them to choose Indian-made over imports while rallying support for Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swadeshi drives.

“When the Centre and states pull together, we’ll make self-reliant India a reality, every state will thrive, and India will emerge as a developed powerhouse,” Modi said. He pushed state governments to amp up manufacturing at home by fostering a welcoming vibe for investments and unleashing full energy into the effort.

Modi described the next-generation Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms as a game-changer, a huge leap forward for Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India’s economic self-sufficiency.
