Visakhapatnam, Dec 12 (LatestNewsX) – Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu revealed that the city is set to become a premier technology and knowledge hub, with living standards aimed at matching global bests. He praised Visakhapatnam’s beauty, cleanliness, and safety, noting that it already attracts major multinationals such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. During the ribbon‑cutting for Cognizant Technologies, accompanied by IT Minister Nara Lokesh, the CM highlighted that the region will play a pivotal role in the tech revolution and will evolve into a robust economic corridor. The state has earmarked 22 acres for Cognizant, which plans to invest ₹1,583 crore in an 8,000‑seat campus that began operations with 1,000 staff and now aims for a workforce of 25,000. The CM expressed enthusiasm about launching eight additional companies—Tech Tammina, Satwa Developers, Imaginnovate Tech Solutions India, Fluentgrid Limited, Motherson Technologies, Qorp Technosoft, CAN Healthcare, RCM Services, and Nanrel Technologies—simultaneously. Emphasising the talent pool, he acknowledged that locals are already making their mark in global IT arenas and pledged full support to help Cognizant complete its campus in under a year. With the upcoming Bhogapuram airport and growing tourism, Visakhapatnam is poised to become a knowledge‑economy hotspot. Google is also planning an AI data centre here, and other firms are following suit. The CM noted that living costs in Visakhapatnam are 20 % lower than in many other cities, while Andhra Pradesh attracts over ₹20 lakh crore in investments, with ₹13.5 lakh crore funneled into the region alone during the CII partnership. He announced that Quantum Valley will be established in Amaravati, with a quantum computer slated for production within six months. The government prioritises industry and start‑ups through streamlined business processes and escrow accounts, aiming to lift the state’s growth rate to 15 % soon. Lokesh echoed the vision of transforming Andhra Pradesh into an economic powerhouse, citing Cognizant’s new presence as a milestone for Visakhapatnam’s global tech status. Cognizant’s CEO, Ravikumar, expressed excitement about tapping into the city’s talent and innovation, noting that 70 % of the firm’s 340,000 employees are based in India, with new delivery centres already in Bhubaneswar, Indore, and a tech‑financial hub in Gift City, Gujarat. ms/uk
