India’s Vice President CP Radhakrishnan has a busy schedule ahead. On September 28, he’ll head to Bihar for a one-day visit. There, he’ll join the closing ceremony of the third Unmesha International Literature Festival in Patna as the chief guest. He’ll also stop by the Chamunda Devi Mandir in Katra, Muzaffarpur, to pay his respects.
Just before this trip, Radhakrishnan wrapped up activities in Andhra Pradesh. On Thursday, he teamed up with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to open the new Pilgrim Amenities Centre, Venkatadri Nilayam, at the famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in Tirupati. This spot helps make pilgrimages smoother for devotees.
Radhakrishnan arrived in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday for his first visit as Vice President. He got a hero’s welcome at Vijayawada airport from Governor S Abdul Nazeer and CM Naidu. That evening, he starred as chief guest at the vibrant Vijayawada Utsav 2025 along the Krishna River at Punnamy Ghat.
The festival lit up with cultural shows that highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s artistic traditions, plus an exciting audio-visual display on its history. Spanning five spots across the city, the event celebrated the state’s rich culture, spiritual roots, and big strides in development—all timed perfectly with the Navratri festivities.
In his speech, Radhakrishnan called the Vijayawada Utsav one of the world’s biggest cultural bashes. He hoped it keeps going strong for another century, bringing people together across generations and places. He dove into Navratri’s magic too, noting it’s the only festival that runs nonstop for nine days and honors goddesses alone. “This shows how much our society values women,” he said.
The Vice President shared a personal highlight from his visit to the Kanak Durga Temple and the shrine of Goddess Annapurna, who stands for nourishment and kindness. “Nothing beats feeding the poor—that’s real devotion to the goddess,” he added warmly.
He couldn’t stop praising Vijayawada’s folks for their genuine hospitality. “The city might be hot and its food super spicy, but its people are the coolest around,” he joked. Radhakrishnan is optimistic about the future, saying Vijayawada ranks among India’s fastest-growing cities and could soon shine as one of the nation’s top urban gems.
