Congress Leader Blasts Jagan Mohan Reddy Over NDA Support in Vice-President Election
In a sharp attack, AICC in-charge for Andhra Pradesh, Manickam Tagore, has called out former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for backing the NDA’s Vice-President candidate. Tagore says this move marks a major "betrayal" that history won’t forget, especially amid ongoing CBI cases against Jagan.
Tagore took to social media platform X to voice his frustration. "By supporting an RSS-backed candidate for Vice President, Jagan has picked fear of CBI cases over Andhra Pradesh’s interests. This isn’t smart strategy—it’s pure surrender to Modi-Babu’s pressure. He should stand with democratic forces, but he didn’t," Tagore wrote.
He didn’t stop there. Tagore slammed Jagan for putting personal survival ahead of the people’s mandate. "Andhra Pradesh needed a brave leader, but Jagan chose cowardice. When politicians bow to Delhi out of fear, they betray the trust of voters. Jagan won’t be seen as a fighter anymore—he’s just a leader who traded his principles to dodge CBI courtrooms," the Congress MP added. Tagore also pointed out that YSRCP MPs followed Jagan’s orders during mock polling and voted for the TDP candidate.
This controversy ties into the recent interim bail granted to YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy in a high-profile liquor case. The ACB court in Vijayawada approved the bail so he could vote in the Vice-Presidential election. Tagore highlighted the irony, saying the TDP/BJP government rushed to file the case and arrest him, but now he’s out temporarily—just to cast his vote.
"TDP/BJP Sarkar was so desperate, they threw him in jail over the liquor case. Now, with this quick interim bail, he’s free for a bit… not because justice prevailed, but to vote in the Vice Presidential election," Tagore posted. He questioned Midhun Reddy’s choice: "The big question is—will he vote for the TDP/BJP candidate who put him behind bars? Or for Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, wait no, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, who’s defending the Constitution?"
Tagore also criticized Jagan for aligning with BJP-RSS in Delhi while ignoring Andhra Pradesh’s struggling farmers. With urea shortages hitting hard, he called this another "betrayal" of the state’s farmers. "Jagan stands with BJP-RSS in Delhi, but not with our farmers facing urea crisis in Andhra Pradesh. This hurts the people who need him most," Tagore said.
The row over Jagan Mohan Reddy’s NDA support and YSRCP’s role in the Vice-Presidential election has sparked heated debates on Andhra Pradesh politics, CBI cases, and farmer issues. As tensions rise between Congress and YSRCP, many eyes are on how this unfolds for the region’s future.
