“We are reviving all monuments in Delhi”: CM Gupta reaffirms ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’ vision

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta promised on Sunday to bring back to life every historical monument in the city. She made the remarks during an event in Mehrauli, where she highlighted her government’s dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi”—balancing development with heritage preservation.

Gupta pointed out Delhi’s rich history and shared that her team has already revived four key monuments. They plan to keep the momentum going across the capital. “We’re reviving all monuments in Delhi,” she told reporters. “We’ve brought four back already. Our goal is to share Delhi’s incredible monumental history with everyone who lives here.”

The gathering was part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwada, a community service drive. It featured vibrant paintings and artworks drawn from Prime Minister Modi’s life story and achievements. Gupta praised the artists for their creativity. “Our artists envision India’s bright future through PM Narendra Modi,” she said. “Each piece tells a story about where India stands today on the global stage and where it’s headed.”

She added how inspiring it was to see so many talents come together. “During Seva Pakhwada, these creators have captured key moments from PM Modi’s journey. Today’s theme perfectly captures his Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi vision.”

In a separate update on urban challenges, Gupta criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party government just days before launching a major new Drainage Master Plan for Delhi. The project comes with a whopping Rs 57,000 crore budget to tackle chronic flooding.

The chief minister vowed to focus first on the worst-hit neighborhoods plagued by waterlogging. “For the first time in 50 years—since 1974—a government with real vision has created the Delhi Master Drainage Plan,” she said on Friday. “Waterlogging hit everywhere before, and it cost lives. Past leaders just didn’t care. But we’re serious about this. We’ve done the hard work and planning, and we’ll roll it out soon in phases—starting with the areas that need it most.”
